Yes, you read correctly...We only have enough leather to produce 20 pairs of boots. That's it, no more. We're accepting pre-orders until the leather runs out. Then it's gone. This Shinki Hikaku horsebutt leather we've called "Wabi-sabi" to reflect the natural state the leather comes in. The leather is totally natural, no corrections done to the surface at all. All original marks, bug bites, surface rubs, barb wire scratches and whatnot are still present on the leather. It's beautifully imperfect. Richard Powell put this Japanese Buddhist aesthetic best, "Wabi-sabi nurtures all that is authentic by acknowledging three simple realities: nothing lasts, nothing is finished, and nothing is perfect."
John Lofgren Bootmaker Combat Boots are based on the U.S. Army Type II combat boot. While faithfully reproducing such distinctive details as the unique toe caps and decorative broguing, our Combat Boots are also updated to meet the needs of contemporary life. We know the Quartermaster Board would've approved. Like all our footwear, the uppers are beautifully executed by a master Japanese craftsman that has been sewing our uppers from the very beginning. And of course, all our footwear is completely built in Japan.
