We present to you a very special Donkey Puncher in vegetable tanned Ezo bear hide. The amount of pairs we can produce is limited because the hides only become available when a bear dies of natural causes in the wild. We have been purchasing the bear hides for some time, waiting until there are enough hides to make enough pairs of boots to satisfy the demand from those looking for something very exotic. Ezo bears are very important to the Ainu people, the indigenous people of Hokkaido. Ainu worship the bear as mountain gods (kimun kamuy). They're also seen as a source of life, and the Ainu people believe that their meat and fur was a gift from the gods (kamuy). We invite you to honor the spirit of the Ezo bear with us.
John Lofgren Bootmaker Donkey Puncher Boots are a heavily built logger style boot. And they're renowned for being incredibly comfortable right out of the box. The uppers are beautifully executed by a master Japanese craftsman that has been sewing our uppers from the very beginning. The boots are visually stunning and aesthetically pleasing. The Donkey Puncher name was derived from the operator of a steam engine known as a Steam Donkey used in the American logging industry around the turn of the century.
